Great question! When we started GameTextures it was much more simple to come up with ideas, because we needed literally everything we could imagine. So, in the beginning it was our team following our hearts, trying to build the most useful materials possible as a starting point for our library.
This type of thinking meant that we were building TONS of Bricks, Roofing, Concrete Materials, Sidewalks, and generalized materials that all developers need.
As our skills improved, and the identity of GameTextures.com began to crystallize, we began focusing on materials which would make our library stand out. We started making fresh things that no other libraries at the time had, which were lots of sci-fi materials, hand sculpted decals, and flora.
As our team and company grows, so does our process of identifying both what to build, and how to build. Many of our materials are custom requests from our customers, and many more are based on tireless research of trending video games, art trends, and analytical data from our month-to-month downloads from our own site.
If you have ideas for us, don't be afraid to ask! Our team is open for communication and loves feedback on where we should go next, because it's definitely not always that obvious!.
